Yet more golfing action this summer as Fairmont hosts Hero Open while we’re in town
Golf courses in Scotland are widely acknowledged as being among the finest in the world, and award-winning Fairmont St Andrews, in the heart of the ‘Home of Golf’, is no exception. It’s recognised as a leading resort for the game, with views overlooking the historic town and over the North Sea at St Andrews Bay. So its unique location, just a few miles south-east of St Andrews itself, makes it ideal for incredible and unforgettable golfing experiences.
The 520-acre estate offers two traditional links golf courses, the Torrance and the Kittocks, both of impeccable quality and both suitable for players of all levels. The resort has played host to a number of championship-level events over the years. And another one is coming up this summer – the Hero Open.
The Hero Open
The Hero Open is a professional golf tournament played on the European Tour as part of the DP World Tour. It was created as part of the tour’s overhaul in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It was originally conceived as a continuation of the English Open, but is now considered a standalone event in its own right. Last year, it was won by Grant Forrest in thrilling style, making the 28-year-old the first Scot to win on home soil in nearly 10 years.
This year, the Hero Open is once again being played on the Torrance course at Fairmont St Andrews between Thursday July 28 and Sunday July 31, with spectators welcome at this exciting event.
We’re also in town!
Our Players’ Camp, running from July 19 to 30, coincides with almost all of the Hero Open at the Fairmont. So we’re hoping to incorporate a trip to watch some of it as part of the 12-day camp. It’s already a fantastic camp, with more than 20 hours of coaching, eight rounds of golf on stunning links course, and a lot more besides.
But it can also help you improve if you watch championship-level players in action. That’s what we aim to do by taking Players’ Camp participants along to watch the Hero Open to give them a much fuller golfing experience. And we can’t wait! Having events at that level on the doorstep certainly adds to the buzz of excitement in the area during the season.
