Our winter golf camp in Portugal

At Mypro Golf our winter camp in Portugal gives our junior golfers chance to polish up their skills during the off-season golfing period.

In the UK, the golf season tees off in early April and continues throughout the spring and summer before ending in September. The weather during these months typically offers optimal conditions for the game, although clearly it can be unpredictable.

What this means is that you then have six months of ‘off season’, during which there are no competitions to take part in, and it can be too cold or wet to practice much outside. So for golfers, the winter season can seem to drag on for quite a long time.

Yet, for professionals, away from the pressures of competitive play, winter presents the ideal chance to work on their swing and other skills, and to prepare ahead of the next season. Indeed, it’s the best time to reflect on your game, analyse how you’ve done in the last season and build a plan for honing your technique for the next time you play competitively. Without the right amount of practice and development, you could start back playing next spring feeling in a worse position than you did at the end of last season.

Our winter golf camp solution

Our philosophy is Train like a pro, so we give junior golfers the chance to do exactly that with our off-season golf camp for young players. Every winter, we temporarily leave our spiritual home of St Andrews and head for the milder climes of the Quinta do Lago resort in Portugal’s sun-soaked coastal Algarve.

Look forward to a sunny, outdoor-focused lifestyle with miles of coastline, incredible food, gorgeous open countryside nearby and more than 300 days of glorious sunshine annually, along with many other activities apart from golf. Not only has Quinta do Lago been voted Europe’s number one golfing destination, but the Algarve was named the world’s leading beach destination in the World Travel Awards of 2020 and 2021.

Golf courses at Quinta do Lago

The 550-hectare, award-winning Quinta do Lago resort is a luxurious location, with a number of championship golf courses.

It nestles between pine trees and sand dunes, so it feels private and secluded. The resort features the south and north courses, with the former having hosted the Algarve Open de Portugal on numerous occasions. The Laranjal is the area’s most recently completed course, while others are just a short drive away. Practice facilities include the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and southern Europe’s only tailor-made performance centre.

What is our winter golf camp?

Our camp comprises a full week in Quinta do Largo, including local and airport transfers plus full-board in a four-star hotel, organised activities and 24/7 supervision. Junior players also get 12 hours’ coaching with PGA pros, and five rounds on professional courses, alongside on-course support and guidance. They’ll also receive a welcome pack, other gifts and post-trip video analysis as well as year-round support once the camp has ended.

Indeed, we couldn’t think of a better place for a warm-weather junior golf camp for the off-season. And we’re delighted to offer junior golfers the chance to join us for some world-class training in the sunshine of southern Portugal.
Contact us to learn more or to book your place – and look forward to starting next season on top of your game.
